How Long Will Fortnite Last?

In recent years, we’ve seen various games added to the already-flourishing Battle Royale genre. Some like Call of Duty: Warzone, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Apex Legends, steamrolled their way to success, while others like Realm Royale (despite being a great game) fell by the wayside. There have also been games that blend other types of genres together to pioneer all-new hybrids. Take Spellbreaker, for instance.

By combining the core concepts of Battle Royale game together with fantasy, introduced a never-before-seen type of video game. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) may be the first Battle Royale-focused game to have ever been created, but Fortnite managed to take over as the most popular and played Battle Royale game in the world.

That being said, just how long will Fortnite’s reign last, and will the number of Fortnite trackers decline? And will there ever be a time when it would all come to an end? As you take a ride with us on the journey to discovering the secrets of why Fortnite is still popular to this day, hopefully, we’ll be able to get some answers as to how long will the most popular Battle Royale game stays relevant.

Constant Updates Are Key

If you’re a game developer and you want people to play your game as much as possible, then the key is to always have constant updates. Sometimes having lots of Fortnite trackers prowling about isn’t about. People want major content for the game that they constantly play.

This keeps things fresh and inviting for people that haven’t played the game as well. Luckily, Fortnite is a seasonal type of game, meaning it always has something up its sleeve for every season or chapter. Updates that keep up with the themes of recent events are also a huge factor.

For example, Fortnite is preparing a Halloween event that’s expected to drop this October. We can expect spooky skins, Halloween-themed Fortnite weapons, and a ton more that fit with what’s going on in real life. Consistency is another key factor that should be taken into consideration. If a game’s updates only come twice a year, with nothing new or innovative to give, there’s a high chance that it can turn off a player from playing the game after a while.

Bombastic Events That Drive Crowds Wild

Besides the usual events that are celebrated in the game such as Halloween and Valentine’s Day, let’s take a moment to appreciate the concerts that Epic Games has held for us in their game. In-game concerts weren’t a thing, but it is now thanks to Fortnite! In fact, we dare say that Epic was the first one to execute this.

You might think a concert within the game is pretty boring since you’re not actually there to bang your head and bump shoulders with other concert-goers, but what Fortnite has done is truly incredible.

If you’re the type of person that plays Fortnite religiously, then you’ve probably participated in at least one of these concerts. Marshmello’s concert happened around February in 2019, while Travis Scott’s Astronomical event was held in April 2020.

These concerts posed some of the best visuals that Epic Games has ever produced. Most notably, the Astronomical concert event, thanks to the eye-candy lights and effects that were implemented alongside a gigantic version of Travis Scott stomping through the venue. All in all, Epic Games’ effort in the making of these concerts can be clearly seen. And especially at this time where we all have to stay at home, what better way to jam to some tunes by going to a concert virtually?

Conclusion

We can’t pinpoint an exact date or year on when Fortnite will lose its relevance, but what we know for sure is that as long as Epic keeps at it with these innovations and creative events, then Fortnite will be here to stay for at least the foreseeable future. No doubt we’ll be seeing more Fortnite trackers along the way too. How long do you think Fortnite will last? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below!
